TV Technology Europe Announces IBC2003 STAR AwardsContact:
Mark Hallinger September 29, 2003 ST IVES, U.K. TV Technology Europe, published by IMAS Publishing Inc., awarded its STAR best-of-show award to 10 companies at the IBC2003 Exhibition and Conference in Amsterdam, 12-16 September 2003. The awards, given for the first time at IBC, recognise noteworthy products and technologies from across the professional video industry. Editors and columnists from the Europe, Asia and U.S. editions of TV Technology contributed to the choices. "The STAR Awards were given to technologies that move the industry forward," said TV Technology Europe Editor Mark Hallinger. "Some of the chosen products represent leaps in technology, others provide broadcasters or production personnel with better workflows or easier operating conditions." STARs (an acronym for Superior Technology Award Recipient) are awarded to a select few companies chosen from a very competitive field at both the IBC and National Association of Broadcasters Conventions. In April, TV Technology recognised 14 STAR recipients at NAB2003. The 10 companies and products receiving awards at IBC2003 include: Accom WSD/HDe Digital Disk Recorder Anton Bauer STASIS Power Support System Ciprico DiMeda 1700 Cobalt Digital HD8021 HD/SD up/downconverter Miranda DVC-800/100 acquisition downconverter and DV encoder Omnibus G3 system Panasonic P2 Development Quantel Split Remote Screen Subtitling Systems plug-in interface for Quantel systems Tandberg DR6000 6-way diversity receiver for wireless productions The STAR winners will be profiled in the October/November issue of TV Technology Europe as well as the October issue of TV Technology Asia/Pacific.
